Thomas Alva Edison Penemu Lampu Pijar

Thomas Alva Edison lahir tanggal 11 Februari 1847 di Milan,Ohio,USA. Ketika berumur 8 tahun, Edison dikelurkan dari sekolahnya karena dianggap idiot. Akhirnya Edison diajar sendiri oleh ibunya di rumah. Sejak usia 10 tahun Edison mulai melakukan percobaan.
Buku percobaan Elektro karangan ilmuwan fisika dan kimia Inggris, Faraday, sangat mempengaruhi Edison. Buku ini menghapus peraasan takutnya terhadap ilmu pasti,
hal ini sangat berpengaruh pada kehidupannya.
Penemuan penting Edison tak terhitung banyaknya, hak paten yang diperolehnya lebih dari 1000 macam. Beberapa penemuannya yang berpengaruh besar bagi perkembangan dunia adalah lampu pijar, fonograf, aki, telegram, piringan hitam, kamera film serta proyektor. Edison juga menyempurnakan telepon agar dapat digunakan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari
Pada musim gugur tanggal 18 Oktober 1931, Thomas Alva Edison meninggal dunia dalam usia 84 tahun. Pada hari pemakamannya, tanggal 21 Oktober 1931 jam 10 malam tepat seluruh Amerika mematikan lampu selama 1 menit untuk memberikan penghormatan terakhir bagi Thomas Alva Edison.
